LACTOBACILLUS BULGARICUS has a short and simple habitual history.
Lactobacillus was first discovered in Bulgaria (hence the name "BULGARICUS.") It was discovered to have lived in a plant-like environment, but was then cultivated into boiled sheeps milk, used for fermentation. NOWadays, it will almost 100% of the time be found in dairy products
such as milk and yogurt.
Lactobacillus Bulgaricus is VERY ACID TOLERANT.
Lactobacillus Bulgaricus grows on a relatively resctrictive number of carbohydrates.
THEN ( habitat before cultivation into dairy products - plant life)
NOW (habitat after cultivation - dairy, primarily cheese and yogurt)

Lactobacillus Bulgaricus also lives in the human intestine. It produces lactic acid which helps kill most disease causing bacteria.
